Hi everyone,
I'm looking to order custom iron on patches ireland and would love some advice before I spend any money. I'm planning a batch for a small business, mainly for work jackets, tote bags and a few caps, and I'd like to apply them myself without getting them sewn on.
I've tried cheap iron-on patches before and they peeled off after a couple of washes, so I'm a bit wary. Most of the sellers I've found ship from overseas, which means long delivery times and possible customs charges. I'd much prefer to work with someone based in Ireland or the UK who can make them from my own artwork.
If anyone has been through this, I'd love your advice on a few things:
  • Do iron-on patches really last, or is it safer to sew around the edges as well?
  • Which fabrics work best, and which should I avoid (nylon, leather, stretchy materials)?
  • What temperature and pressing time work best for application at home?
  • Is a heat press better than a household iron?
  • What's a fair price per patch for 50 to 100 pieces, and is a setup fee normal?
  • How long does production usually take, and do suppliers send a proof first?
  • How should I wash garments with iron-on patches so they don't lift?
I'd also appreciate any supplier recommendations, plus warnings about things to avoid. Photos of your own finished patches would be great, as they'd help me see what's realistic.
Thanks in advance, all advice is welcome!
